Storms and Such

Many, many years ago
When I was but a child
The grown-ups told me fairy tales
And now I know they lied.
They told me when the sky grew dark
And lightning filled the air
That thunder was the sound I'd hear
To know that God was there.
They said that all the rain drops
Were tears that Jesus shed
Because of things that I had done
The son of God was dead.
But then I saw a rainbow
I questioned God above
Are storms your sign of anger
Or just your show of love?
He sent His answer softly
In moisture from above
And with His brilliant sunshine
Ensured me of His love.
