Rhyme
Don't speak to me in rhyme,
Words with meanings cushioned
deep in unfamiliar metaphors
moving thru lips that deafen
ears that no longer choose to hear.
Don't speak to me in rhyme,
Words that hide behind clever,
caressing phrases with their
hidden innuendos that have
etched deep scars in tissue
that can no longer feel.
Don't speak to me in rhyme,
Words that shatter mirrored
childhood visions and dreams.
These eyes now dimmed and filled
with tears can no longer see.
Don't speak to me in rhyme,
Words to dull my other senses
Or I shall speak to you in rhyme,
I've layered in past tenses.
